As a historic town, Pangkalpinang city has a multitude of historical heritage that can reveal the glory of the nation in the past and examine the traces of regional development. Tourists can visit The Residen House (Rumah Residen), the building is located at Merdeka street number 1, a zero point of the Bangka Island. Before becoming mayor’s official residence of Pangkalpinang, this house is the Dutch Residen House.

In 1913 the Dutch moving the center of Residency from Mentok to Pangkalpinang also separate BTW (Banka Tin Winning) administration with the administration of the country (Bestuur), and before becoming the capital of Karesidenan Bangka, Pangkalpinang was a Keasistenan Residen with led by Controleur, named RJ Koppenol and assisted by village headman, name Raden Ahmad.

The Residen House is often called the Big House , because consists of 2 main rooms, 4 Pavilion, Poyer, Living room and two dining rooms, several small bedrooms and kitchen, The Residen House also have spacious veranda with 10 large and sturdy pillars.
